Baths of Caracalla

The Baths of Caracalla were a truly gigantic undertaking. Completed in AD 217 it had room for over one and a half thousand bathers. But the complex was far more than a mere bathhouse. It rather represented the Roman version of a leisure center, offering plenty of space to exercise and even a library.
